Current source mode

1. Select source mode with the ‘source/sink mode’ lockable switch.

2. S

elect 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA range.

3. Set the ‘voltage/millivolt select’ switch to the 0-200 mV position.

4. Connect the instrument up as shown above.

To monitor the output, connect a multimeter across V+ and V-. The

oltage terminals will output 0-200 mV for 0-20 mA.

Voltage source mode

1. Select source mode with the ‘source/sink mode’ lockable switch.

Select 0-20 mA (for 0-5 V output) or 4-20 mA range (for 1-5 V output).

3. Set the ‘voltage/millivolt select’ switch to the 0-5 V position.

4. Connect up the instrument as shown above.

Millivolt source mode

1. Select source mode with the ‘source/sink mode’ lockable switch.

Select 0-20 mA (for 0-200 mV output)

r 4-20 mA range (for 40-200 mV output).

3. Set the ‘voltage/millivolt select’ switch to the 0-200 mV position.

4. Connect up the instrument as shown above.

You can use the Portacal 275 in this mode to accurately calibrate a

millivolt or thermocouple transmitter provided you measure the output

with a suitably accurate multimeter.
